Questions for the Public

When you're searching for a quality healing professional, you have an unlimited number of choices online.  Sometimes it's impossible to decide which healing professional best suits your needs.

This is where the International Healing and Spiritual Professionals Association comes in.  Our healing practitioners include Reiki healers, EFT and Energy Psychology practitioners, ordained ministers and spiritual counselors, metaphysicians, spiritual healers and practitioners, acupuncturists, acupressurists, hypnotherapists, coaches, wellness therapists, and many others.

Our IHSPA members are here because they care about their reputation.  They openly state their education and credentials, affiliations, and other vital information.  These are verified by the IHSPA.  Members are required to adhere to a code of ethics.

What can the IHSPA do for me, a consumer?

The International Healing and Spiritual Professionals Association provides you, the consumer, with a membership database of professionals guaranteeing accurate information about the professional and his or her practice.  Through the IHSPA website, you can rest assured that the members listed are who they claim to be.  Please see below for more specific details.

Is this free for me?

Yes! Anyone may freely access the member directory pages.

My practitioner is not listed by the IHSPA.  Does this mean he or she isn't recommended?

Absolutely not!  Your spiritual or healing practitioner may not even know of the IHSPA.  You may want to advise your healing practitioner that an inexpensive professional association exists which would provide more credibility and visibility to their practice.

Looking at a practitioner's web page, I notice that her school has not been accredited.  Does that mean I should choose someone else?

No.  Accreditation is a very tricky thing, and moreso when it comes to complimentary and alternative medicine, alternative healing, ministerial ordinations, and other such things.  Accreditation simply means that the quality provided by a facility's or institution's services and operations are examined by a third-party accrediting agency to determine if applicable standards are met.  No accreditation can mean anything from zero quality training to university quality training. If you have any questions about the quality or sufficiency of a practitioner's training, all you have to do is ask.

Does the International Healing and Spiritual Professionals Association keep current with their members?

Yes.  Each member is required to contact us on a regular basis and provide updated information, if any, as well as current practitioner activities.  This way we know the healing professional is still in practice

I have a complaint about one of your professional members.

The IHSPA strives to ensure clients receive the best service from their healing practitioners, and takes complaints seriously.  With that said, a complaint against a member does not mandate their termination from the Professional Member Directory.  A traditional medical doctor might receive ten or more consumer complaints a day!  However, all correspondence is logged and if two or more consumers voice problems about a given practitioner, the IHSPA will contact the member to address these issues and determine any actions taken on a case-by-case basis.

How do I Read a Practitioner's Listing?

To browse the professional healing practitioner's listings, just click on "members" at the top of any page of this site.  This will take you to the Professional Member Directory.  When you click on a healer, you will get a listing similar to this:

Dr. Jane Smith, D.D., Reiki Master

The full title of the practitioner is listed, along with any other certifications.

Education:  Doctor of Divinity, New Hampshire School of Thought
Reiki Master Certification, Private Study with Mrs. Helen Johnson, Reiki Master

Under "Education", the practitioner's verified studies are presented. All institutions that have a form of accreditation will have the accrediting body presented after it, with a link to its website if one is available.  In the event of non-accreditation, such as private study (as a lot of Reiki is), the IHSPA contacts the mentor and verifies the practitioner is truly a former student.
